TWES - Training and work experience scheme
Training and Work Experience Scheme (TWES) designed to:
- Allow staff from other than the UK countries to come to the UK for receive a training.
- Set up international companies training groups in the UK - so that the non-UK companies in the group can also benefit from training that occurs within the UK
The aim of the scheme is not to provide the needed workers for some interested employers. If a person comes to the UK some company benefit he should apply for a work permit.
Work permit and training permit differences
Training Permits
The scheme is designed to help staff from developing countries to come to the UK to go get training which is nearly not available for them in their own countries. At the same time if your country is not a developing one you can try to apply for training permit as well.
To be approved under the scheme the training should provide the members with some recognised professional qualification. Some occupational skills gained within the training can be sometimes also qualified as enough reason to submit the training under the scheme.
The candidate should be between 18 and 54 years old, educated enough to take part in the program, he should have suitable working experience and it should be shown that the training is really unavailable in his own country and new knowledge will be very useful for his professional growth. It is supposed that a candidate will work at least 30 hours per week.
Candidate should meet the following requirements:
- Be able to provide the training
- Be fixed with a professional institute which will be able to approve the qualification which will be achieved within the training.
- Be ready to provide the detailed program, including dates, duration, facilities.
- The candidates should be provided with suitable wages and other conditions equivalent to those offered in other on-the-job training in the area.
The maximum period stay in the UK under this scheme is 3 years. Employers who want to provide the training should contact the Department of Employment in the UK for work permit. After the training is over the candidate should leave the UK and spend at least two years outside of the UK. Then he may apply for a full Work Permit.
Work Experience Scheme
To apply under the Work Experience scheme the maximum period stay under this category is one year unless it is some exceptional situation which sometimes leads to the one year more extension. All other information above may be applied to the work experience scheme.
Within the program the candidate should be able to obtain the experience which is not available in his own country. The experience on offer should be of a type that is not readily available in the home country but will be of use there. The candidate should be between 18 and 35 years old, educated enough to take part in the program, he should have suitable working experience and show that new knowledge will be very useful for his professional growth. It is supposed that a candidate will work at least 30 hours per week.
